Agritech Revolution: Musk's SpaceX partners with Deere & Co to transform Agriculture in Brazil

Updated: Feb 25, 2024

In Short

In a groundbreaking collaboration, the world's leading tractor manufacturer, Deere & Co., has joined forces with Elon Musk's SpaceX to bring high-speed internet connectivity to remote rural areas in the US and Brazil.

Beginning in the second half of this year, tractors in both countries can be equipped with SpaceX's Starlink terminal, establishing a connection to Deere's operations center—a move hailed as an "industry first," as announced in Deere's statement in January.

Starlink, Musk's satellite network already providing high-speed internet in remote areas, is set to expand its global connectivity with an ambitious plan to launch 42,000 satellites in the coming years. Leveraging this connectivity, John Deere aims to generate 10% of its annual revenue through software service fees, offering real-time data to farmers and ushering in the next era of agricultural revolution.
