Updated: Mar 16, 2024

In Short:

Florianópolis, SC, February 2024 - The Port of Navegantes has been granted environmental clearance this month for construction works that will enable it to accommodate the world's largest ships. The total investment for the endeavor amounts to R$ 1 billion.

The undertaking will allow the port to receive ships up to 400 meters in length, the largest cargo vessels of today, with an enormous capacity of up to 21,000 containers each.

The expansion works are expected to take 27 months and will be carried out in two phases. As the location boasts two port terminals, while one side of the port undergoes construction, the other will continue to operate normally, minimizing disruption to activities.
